  7. He received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master of science in aerospace engineering from Princeton University.

  22. Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army upon his graduation from West Point in 1969, he retired from the Army in 1992, having served as a military test pilot logging more than 3,000 hours of flight time.

  24. He was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate in 1984. Having flown more than 334 hours in space on two Shuttle missions, Adamson retired from government service in 1992.
